If you are looking for something a little more strenuous than a long walk on the beach, great hiking can be found in the Sierras just a 15-minute ATV ride from your door.   Hiking areas include abandoned mines and desert oasis creeks that follow steep canyons lined with palms and native fig trees that cling precariously onto canyon faces. Sand Boarding

Sand Boarding

Sandboarding is one of our new favorite evening activities (its too hot in the daytime).  Just a 5-minute walk from the houses is a seriously steep series of dunes, which make perfect “ski hills”.  We park one ATV with lights pointing up the dune, climb to the top (to work off the evenings tacos), and either sit or stand on one of the sand boards and go flying down the face of the dune.  It is endless fun and if done right you can skid out 15 feet onto the flats at the bottom.  Just make sure you have a shower after…..you will find sand EVERYWHERE!
